Firstly, I would like to thank our families (again) for their on-going support of Tenacres.
Following discussions with the Governing Body today we feel it is now the right decision for Tenacres that we invite our Reception and Year 1 children to return to us from Monday 15th June. This in line with the Government’s directive for these Year Groups.
As stated in my last update:
- Your child/ren, should you wish them to return, will be allocated either Mon/Tues or Thurs/Fri, dependent on alphabetical order, as the groups cannot mix. (Please see below)
- Wednesday a ‘deep clean’ between the groups will take place.
- The same adults are to be with the children i.e. your child’s Class Teacher and Teaching Assistant.
- Break times / lunchtimes will be staggered as groups should not mix.
- No items are to be brought in from home, apart from a lunchbox and drink.
- Social distancing will be encouraged, but this is extremely difficult to enforce with young children.
- Drop off and pick up arrangements will be slightly different, (Please see below)
- Increased cleaning routines and stations will be in place.
- A 2m distance will be maintained at all times at drop off, pick up and with school staff. Any conversations with staff must be via a phone call.
- Children’s learning environments are still the same colourful, friendly environments and not, how at times the press have portrayed of simply a desk and chair!
- We would also like to inform our parent and carers that due to staffing capacity from next week we are unable to have any additional children.
If your child is clinically vulnerable, or living with somebody who is (e.g. somebody with COPD), they must not return to school and will continue home learning. I am aware we have a few children that fall in to this category. Teachers will continue to use SEESAW for children not returning to school and remain in contact with them.
Again, I want to reassure you that it is your parental choice if you wish your child to return.
Drop off and Pick up
Reception parents are only to use the top two gates by Reception. One gate will be ‘In Only’ and the other ‘Out Only’ – these will be signposted. Children can be dropped off from 8.40am to 9.00am. At the end of the day children can be collected from 2.45 to 3.00pm.
Year 1:
The 3 gates leading on to the lower playground are to be used. These will be signposted to help keep everybody to the ‘In’ and ‘Out’ sides. Drop off from 8.40am to 9.00am and collection at normal time at 3.00-3.10pm. Due to the extensive space on the lower playground this will enable all to maintain a 2m distance from one another. 1DH will enter from their usual entrance and 1J the Year 2 entrance (just to the left of their normal entrance off the playground)
The outdoor spaces have not had additional markings added as we feel you will ensure that social distancing will be adhered to.

Monday/Tuesday (with Mrs Duffy) – if your child’s surname is A to H
Thursday/Friday (with Mrs Hirst)- if your child’s surname is J to Z
Please confirm if you are sending your child back on their allocated days by emailing head@tenacres.worcs.sch.uk by 12.00 midday on Friday 12th June. This is to organise all staffing arrangements.
Year 4:
Due to the children’s transition to Middle School we are planning to welcome back our Year 4 children from Monday 22nd June. This will be in the same format as R and Year 1 and I will send a further update and details on Monday 15th June.

Please confirm if you will be sending your child (yr 4) back via Mr Beacham: jb708@tenacres.worcs.sch.uk. Please let him know by Thursday 18th June by 12.00 midday.
Regarding Years 2 and 3 there are currently no plans for their return. Should this change over the coming weeks I will be in contact with you. Please be reassured though that there are plans in place to ensure a smooth transition to Year 3/4 from September-more details to follow.
