Event - Tenacres Winter Olympic Games

14 February 2014

To round off our exciting topic based on the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, on Friday 14th February the whole school took part in Tenacres Winter Olympic Games (TWOG).

The children competed in five events, planned and led by pupils in Year 4:

  • Skate-athelon
  • Skeleton
  • Indoor Curling
  • Curly Bag
  • Ice Hockey.

The day began with the opening ceremony held in the school hall. Specially selected athletes representing each class took part in the athlete’s parade and Year 3 children led live entertainment with a Winter Olympic sports inspired dance, complete with a backing pre-recorded video.

The games then began, with all children competing in heats in their classes throughout the morning. In the afternoon, winners from the heats competed in the finals held in the hall with the whole school watching.

The day was rounded off with a medal ceremony for all children who won bronze, silver or gold in their event.

A fantastic day was had by all and the children all got into the excitement of the afternoon, bringing flags and banners to support their friends. Well done to everyone who competed in TWOG and a special thank you to all the Year 4 pupils for planning and running the event.
