Hello all,

Myself and the staff would like to say a gigantic “well done” to all the children this week.  The week has been calm and purposeful with all the children slipping back in to life at Tenacres.  I think, for me, most notably were the sights and sounds of the children seeing their friends again on Monday morning. We had decided to give them time to speak and catch up with each other…..my goodness me and I thought the staff could talk!   The excitement of seeing one another again can never be under estimated and will stay with me for a very long time to come.  Another stand out from the week has been the children’s manners, behaviour and conduct around school, again this is something they and you should be very proud of.

This week and the following weeks leading to Easter are focused on continuing to settle children back in to school life and gather the information we need to assess the areas to focus on regarding their learning for the Summer Term.  All this is completed during ‘normal’ lessons so please be reassured no formal testing or anything along those lines will be done.  We find to gather the true point at where every child is, is to allow them to show us through a typical school day.  We would value and appreciate children continuing to read at home  and to practise their Phonics focus, as this impacts greatly on all aspects of their learning.

You may have seen in the news that households can now collect Lateral Flow Device testing kits to use at home.  For the families of Primary age children these kits can be collected at various collection points/centres in Redditch.  School do not provide these.  Please visit www.gov.uk and search household Lateral Flow Device testing for further information and clarification.

Red Nose Day-Friday 19th March 2021: All children brought home a competition yesterday and this also had information about next Friday.  Children are invited to dress as a superhero, or to wear red or clothes they just feel great in!  We are asking for a £1 donation for the charity as many of our children have been supported by charities that are funded by Red Nose Day, these services include bereavement support.   The competition entries are to be handed in to your child’s class teacher by Thursday 18h March.  Two winners from each class will be announced on Friday 19th March and prizes given out.  Thank you for your on-going support.

Red Nose Day themed lunch- due to the Parent Pay system  we cannot change the pre populated menu for the day which will read as fish fingers.  The menu on the day will be hotdogs/vegetarian hotdog, chips and beans, one of the children’s favourite meals.  If you want your child to have this lunch please order fishfingers or the vegetarian option on the system but on the day it will be hotdogs etc.  Nothing is straight forward is it!  There will be a very special pudding of a Red Nose Day cupcake on the day.

With Mothering Sunday this weekend the children have been very busy creating and making very unique gifts for all our fabulous mums!  Everybody at Tenacres wishes you a lovely day being spolit and maybe, just maybe putting your feet up with a nice cuppa!  Thank you to all our mums for all that they do.

Hope everybody has a relaxing weekend.

Best wishes

Miss Marshall
