Pupils returning from holidays outside of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man
and Ireland
Red Listed countries
Pupils or staff who have been to any of these countries in the 10 days prior to entering the UK:
• Must not attend school until:
o They have completed 14 days in a managed quarantined hotel and taken 2 COVID-19
tests with negative test results. They should quarantine with a parent or legal
guardian, not at home.
Amber Listed countries
Pupils or staff who have been to any of these countries in the 10 days prior to entering the UK:
• Must not attend school until:
o They have quarantined at home or in the place they are staying for 10 days
o They have taken a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 and these
are negative
o Children aged 4 and under do not need to take the day 2 or day 8 test.
Green Listed countries
Pupils or staff who have been to any of these countries in the 10 days prior to entering the UK:
• May return to school only if:
• They have taken a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 after they arrive back in England
which has returned a negative result (day 0 = day they arrive back in England). This should
be undertaken by a COVID-19 test provider, provider lists available here: Choose a
provider for your day 2 test – GOV.UK (find-travel-test-provider.service.gov.uk)
• Children aged 4 and under do not need to take this test.
• Pupils and staff do not need to quarantine unless the test result is positive.
• Pupils and staff must quarantine if NHS Test & Trace informs them that they travelled to
England with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
